The End Of The Dish Cable Debate

By Ryan Steele

In recent years one of the most common topics of contention amongst TV watchers has been that of satellite versus cable. Although there are quite a few angles to approach this debate from, this article will try to cover the fundamentals as they pertain to: money, channels, customer service, ease of movement, and other items of interest. If you are wavering between the two, these are the main issues that you are facing with the dish vs cable debate.

Fees

For all the talk that surrounds this subject, this is most likely the bottom line in the minds of individuals. What are the bills going to look like at the end of the month? Even though many people seem to believe that satellite is more expensive, interestingly enough the reality is that cable bills are more likely to be higher. Many cable television owners have seen spikes in their monthly bills whereas satellite has not really changed in terms of cost.

Which Has More Channels?

This is actually a major selling point for satellite providers. There is no longer a need to pick the sports package or the basic package. There's no need to worry about missing the big game either. With the dish network you can watch pretty much anything you want.

Customer Service

The measure of a company is how they treat the people who buy from them. After being on top for so long, many cable companies seem to have forgotten this fact. Because most satellite providers have to compete with each other and then some, they have no choice but to deliver in this respect. No more run-arounds and endless delays if you run into trouble while you are using the dish.

Considering a Move?

Moving is a fact of life at this stage. If you ever decide to relocate for any reason, do you really want to go through the hassles of another installation? With satellite you can move without fear of losing your coverage. Simply pack up your bags and set it up when you arrive. The same cannot be said for the alternative.

The Perks

It has been said before that "you'll catch more flies with honey than with vinegar". You can see the same concept at work with the freebies that dish providers have begun giving out. Naturally, it goes without saying that different companies will throw in different "sweeteners" but popular selections are DVRs and High Definition. While these are also options if you stay with your cable company, you'll have to pay a bit extra each month to have them.

If you base your evaluation on the basic things that matter, satellite television is an option that many would do well to consider. It doesn't cost as much, there's more channels, great customer service should you run into problems, coverage no matter where you go, and there's free give-aways. "Dish Cable" may have been an interesting discussion in the beginning, but now the answer is obvious.
