Iphone 4 Launches In China Despite The Nation's History Of Imitations

By Ian Austin

Right now when we discuss a nation that has a repute of imitating nearly a myriad of brands of items, nobody will even contest that when we point out China to be that country and say that it's just black propaganda and a one-sided declaration.

China has imitated almost all kinds of brands and products that it has been long known to manufacture and market affordable yet mediocre products like DVD players and other electronic gadgets like mobile phones. The country has a big reputation of pirating original brands that when a Chinese person goes inside a Louis Vuitton store in Paris and asks to buy the latest designer bag, there would be a lot questions and information taken to make sure that this person is not buying to they could copy the design and imitate it.

Indeed, China does have its negative reputation but when the new iPhone 4 was realized in the United State, it took only a few months before Apple investors decided to launch the original phone in China. Not like the previous iPhone 3GS that took more that a year to reach China after its official launch in the US, the iPhone 4 was so popular that customers in China have already pre-ordered their iPhone 4s before the official launch.

Folks have waited in line to order their very own iPhone 4 smart phone, many of them even waited in line for 2 days ahead of time so the they can be many of the first men and women to get a hold of this futuristic iPhone . And although there are a lot of counterfeit phones in China, for many people absolutely nothing can still beat the original regardless of how high-priced it maybe.

The completely new iPhone 4 costs $600 - $800, not a very small sum of money for one phone. But if you have used it, I know your money makes it worth while. Just make sure that you get proper iPhone 4 insurance to protect this valuable purchase. IPhone insurance covers your iphone in case it had been impaired or robbed and the operator is guaranteed a replacement.

Obtaining the iphone and using it without having the right insurance for iPhone is risky simply because of its price. The possibilities that it can be broken is usually there, and right now that its part of the phones the Chinese will be employing, we can anticipate a great deal of inquiries once the iPhone 4 hits the stores anew in China.

Playboy Satellite Radio: A Strange Phenomenon

By Owen Jones

Satellite radio has truly taken off in some parts of the world, particularly in countries with a large land mass. Places like America, Canada, Europe and Australia, places where it is hard to realize national coverage with traditional terrestrial radio broadcasting without hundreds of expensive sub-stations to boost the signal.

Yes, without a shadow of a doubt, satellite radio is here to stay for several reasons. First of all, satellite radio is digital and therefore is able to produce sound of very high quality. Terrestrial digital radio can do that too, you might say.

Yes, that is true, but the coverage of terrestrial digital radio is rather small which means tht if you are driving a long way, you will have to keep retuning your radio to a different station, whereas with satellite, the footprint can cover thousands of square miles.

A lot of new satellite radio channels are springing up all the time. It appears that everyone wants to get their hands on this new marvel of wide-area coverage at a cheaper price than it used to cost to cover a county. And why not? The advertising potential is quite fantastic compared to the old fashioned local AM or FM radio stations. Radio has now gone countrywide.

Playboy Satellite radio is one of those firms that has grasped the potential of satellite radio and set up its own channel with a large footprint. It was launched in March 2006 on the Sirius network by Christie Hefner and now boasts over one million subscribers, which is a truly impressive figure. There have almost certainly never before been a million opt-in subscribers to any radio network channel ever in times gone by before.

What makes this number of one million subscribers even more impressive is that the Playboy satellite radio channel is not part of a package or a bundle of other channels. No, people have to willingly phone up or go to the Playboy website and request membership in person, that is to say that it costs time and effort to sign up and one million people thought that it was worth it.

Something else that is curious is that the Playboy brand is associated with visual stuff - naked ladies, in fact - and radio is well-known for not being very good at visual representation. It is clear that no radio station is going to make much progress in the market place using nudity as a trump card.

So what is going on here? Well, the fact is that no-one is really completely certain. You have to subscribe, but it is free at the moment. It is also true that the Playboy brand name is considered cool and distinctive among a certain stratum of society, but will that be enough to keep people tuned in? Only time will tell.

The answer almost certainly lies in the fact that it is free and that it can be accessed over a considerable area, but they cannot be the only reasons. There is probably a novelty value too and the quality of the programmes will have to be high as well.

Basic Tips On Satellite Radio And Whether Or Not It Is For You

By Matt Jefferson

Broadcasting digital radio by way of satellite is not something new and concepts of doing this have been with us for a few years. From the beginning of satellite radio, companies like Dish Network have provided electronic digital audio stations in their packages. The breakthrough in popularity of satellite radio, however, happened just recently, when the technology became much more permissive. Satellite radio was unusual on moving locations, such as boats or automobiles, mostly because there was the necessity for some high-priced equipment - a tracking dish. This was a substantial deterrent that kept satellite radio pretty mysterious by the general public. Right now, on the other hand, one can receive digital audio satellite shows by using a small, GPS-like antenna. This tremendously increased the feasibility of the satellite radio systems and increasingly more automobile owners began thinking about satellite radios as a good source of music and news.

The birth of satellite radio in America

Once the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) assigned a spectrum in the "S" band (2.3 GHz) for the transmission of digital radio services in 1992 nobody considered the amplitude how the system might take in the foreseeable future. From the original Digital Audio Radio Service (DARS) things advanced until two organizations were given licenses to be able to broadcast digital radio in the late nineties. These two were American Mobile Radio (these days called XM Satellite Radio) and CD Radio (at this time known as Sirius Satellite Radio). The truth that satellite radio is countrywide helps it be an incredibly desirable media channel, both for commercial as well as non-profit organizations. The two companies that started the development of satellite radio observed the enormous potential it had, because it wasn't restricted by the constraints of other terrestrial broadcasters.

Features about utilizing satellite radio

Listed below are some of the most noteworthy advantages of using a satellite radio system:

* Forget about physical limits - because the radio program is transmitted via a satellite it's not necessary to change radio stations each time you leave a particular coverage region.

* The digital quality of the satellite radio features several incredible benefits on its own. There won't be noise disruptions which were standard to FM and AM programming. The transmission is really clear and satellite radio gets a few important points when broadcasting quality is concerned.

* Analog radio stations just cannot broadcast all of the selection of sounds accessible through digital satellite radio.

* Both XM Radio and Sirius Radio can be picked up in all the US and they are also available in some regions of Canada and Mexico.

Satellite radio technology

Every one of the major satellite radio services makes use of its own equipment to broadcast the signal to their clients. The competition is tight and clients have to "pick sides" in order to gain from satellite radio broadcasting. You have to decide on your preferred firm and buy satisfactory receivers for that particular company. Both XM Radio and Sirius Radio supply their clients with various ways of receiving their services. The field in which most competition happens is incorporated in the negotiation with the major automobile manufacturers. Both XM Radio and Sirius Radio possess deals with the auto industry giants in order to offer their services and equipment as optional on the car models they produce. Other partnerships were created with audio equipment manufacturers, who now offer satellite radio transceivers and corresponding headphones. The newest jolt inside the satellite radio universe has been brought on by the production of transportable MP3 player-like satellite radio receivers.

The longer term progression of satellite radio

One of the many troubles of satellite radio ended up being tackled by the primary satellite radio broadcasters. Because you have to be in the line of sight of the satellite for the transmission, different problems came out with mobile satellite radio receivers, particularly when several landscaping objects impeded the direct transmission. To fix this, terrestrial based equipment were set up in order to eradicate the lack of direct satellite transmission. Another interesting facet linked to satellite radios is they contacted their service offers coming from a distinct perspective when compared with standard radio broadcasters. Instead of airing ads it costs a subscription fee. For many people, this is actually the ideal choice, simply because they experience an almost 100% content program (whether or not it's music or talk shows) devoid of the 10-12 minutes each hour of irritating advertisements. In most cases, the monthly membership for satellite radio is about $12.

How Radio Advertsing In Leeds Can Benefit Your Business

By Mark Hall

The Internet gets a tremendous amount of publicity in our society. This may sometimes cause us to forget something: there are still a lot more people with radios on earth than there are ones with Internet access. Radio advertsing in Leeds , or anywhere else for that matter, might thus still be your best way to reach large numbers of people.

Targeted advertising: Just as with the Net, you can carefully target your advertisement to reach a particular audience. Advertising just before the news will reach a different audience than placing and ad in the middle of a discussion program about medical issues for example. Radio stations have widely divergent audiences, and you can pick a station and a time that will reach your target audience with a high level of accuracy.

There is one important difference between the World Wide Web and radio advertising. The Internet is still largely concentrated on visual advertising, such as banner ads and text links. The radio uses audio to reach a specific audience. This aspect of the radio gives it an advantage, since many people tend to remember something they hear longer than something they read.

Another benefit of the radio is that it's portable. Radio listeners often have radio with them when they go to the beach, when they drive or even when they eat. Advertising during peak traffic periods will give you the added advantage that people listening to their radios in their cars form a captive audience who have no choice but to listen to your ad.

The Net has made such dramatic inroads in developed countries that we tend to forget than more than eighty percent of the world still does not have Internet access. If your audience is people living in remote country villages or less developed areas of the world, wireless ads might be your best option. There is virtually nowhere in the world where someone can't listen to the radio, even though it might only be shortwave.

Something else that many people do not take into account when planning their advertising campaigns is that across the globe there are still more than a billion people who can not read or write. The Internet and the written media can not access these people. The only way in which to get your message across to them is by using the radio. This is why Radio advertsing in Leeds can often be your most sensible option.

Advice For Discovering The Best Audio Amplifier

By Brian Fuller

Picking a good audio amplifier for your speakers is not a trivial task. You want to ensure that your amp matches your speakers. I will explain some basic amplifier terms and give some pointers to help you pick the best amplifier.

There is a flood of different audio amplifiers available which all differ in their specifications, shape and size. However, you don't need to be an expert to pick the best model. By following some basic rules you won't regret your buying decision.

The most apparent parameter is the size of the amplifier. There are models that are as big as half your living room while some of the newest mini amplifier models are as small as a bar of soap. A large number of amps are the size of a standard rack. This allows your amp to be stacked on top of your other audio devices.

There are some core amplifier technologies available. One technology is called "solid-state". Solid-state amps now account for the majority of audio amplifiers. In the past, tube amplifiers have been popular. Even today tube amplifiers are still available. Tube amplifiers, however, have a fairly high amount of harmonic distortion. Harmonic distortion refers to how much the audio signal is degraded while being amplified. This term is often used while comparing the audio quality of amplifiers.

An audio distortion of up to 10% is typical for tube amps while solid-state amps have lower audio distortion depending on the particular technology. In the past, mostly "Class-A" and "Class-AB" amps were available which are also known as "analog amplifiers". While amplifiers using these technologies typically have low audio distortion, power efficiency is only 10% to 30%. Power efficiency refers to how much of the electrical power is actually used to amplify the signal. The remaining portion is wasted as heat. An amplifier with low power efficiency will radiate most of its power as heat.

"Class-D" amplifiers, however, which are also called "digital amplifiers" have a power efficiency of at least 80% and are smaller and have a smaller power supply than comparable analog amplifiers. The downside is that many digital amplifiers have higher audio distortion than analog amplifiers although some of the latest models employ a feedback mechanism to reduce distortion to levels of 0.05% and below.

Your amplifier should deliver sufficient power to drive your speakers. The amount of power will depend on the power handling rating of your speakers. Another factor is the size of your room. There are two values for speaker power handling: peak and average power handling. The peak value shows how much power the speaker can handle for short periods of time. The average value on the other hand describes how much power the speaker can tolerate continuously without damage.

In a small listening environment, you may not need to drive your speakers to their rated value. 20 to 40 Watts of power will probably be plenty. Speakers however differ in their impedance and sensitivity. As a rule of thumb speakers with low impedance offer higher sensitivity. High-sensitivity speakers are easier to drive to high volume than low-sensitivity speakers. Not all amplifiers can drive any speaker impedance. Find out the impedance of your speaker which is given in Ohms. Then look at your amplifier manual to ensure that your amp can drive this impedance.

Lastly, make sure that your amplifier introduces little noise and has a broad enough frequency response. High-quality amplifiers will have a signal-to-noise ratio of at least 100 dB and a frequency response of at least 20 Hz to 20 kHz.

Is AOL Radio Going To Cause The Extinction Of Traditional Stations?

By Brian Fuller

Online radio such as AOL Radio, Slacker, Pandora and Last.fm have gained popularity lately. In addition, many wireless devices such as mobile phones support these platforms. Are local radio stations doomed? I will take a closer look at online radio to try to answer this question. In particular I will examine the impact of online radio on local broadcasters.

I appears that local radio stations are on their way to become extinct. They are being threatened by the advance of online and satellite radio. These competing services typically offer hundreds of music and entertainment channels. Some of the channels are even commercial-free. The internet has enabled access to a virtually unlimited number of online radio channels.

Pandora and other online radio services have become available of wireless audio devices by installing the appropriate app. This increases convenience and mobility of online radio. Mobility has thus far been the biggest advantage of local radio.

AOL Radio uses CBS radio as its broadcasting platform. It comes with over 200 music channels. In addition it offers access to more than 150 local CBS radio stations. The underlying CBS radio platform "play.it" also allows listeners to create their own customized music channels. This is done by entering the names of albums, tracks or artists. The tracks played on each music channels can also be stored on an iPod for later playback by using 3-rd party tool iGetMusic.

Pandora and other online radio services have similarly started to offer customize music. The user can enter music-related information such as artist, track or album name. These channels will then select tracks which are similar to the information entered. Thus far, however, competing music services have fallen short from offering similarly fully customized radio channels.

Does online radio mean the end of local radio? The growing number of options clearly is going to shrink the market share of traditional radio broadcasters. Online radio is particular useful for niche broadcasters who have been unable to broadcast due to the high cost and licensing of frequency space.

Online radio broadcasters have found it difficult to be profitable. The main reason is the huge number of competing channels which is diluting listeners. The lower cost of online radio at the same time allows creation of more appealing content than local radio by serving niche markets and inserting fewer commercials.

Local programming such as news and local events, however, will remain one of the big advantages of local radio. Thus far the poor audio quality of FM radio has been a big drawback. However, new digital radio broadcasts are set to improve the audio quality. One of these technologies is HD radio. Content and mobility will be crucial in determining the fate of online and local radio. Online radio offers a large number of choices while local radio excels by supplying local content. Both online and local broadcasts offer great mobility. Therefore it is hard to predict a clear winner in this radio battle.
